This is a short guide how to solve hardware problems
you might have with running our game.
- For an immediate fix of the most common videocard problems,
start the game and goto settings -> graphics and change the
drivers into 'Direct X'. Select 'apply' and press enter.
-
While the graphics run slower now, this might be a good way to
get the game running since some videocard manufacturers do not
provide proper OpenGL drivers. Also the Windows XP update does
not provide proper drivers. See also point 2.
-
- Goto the website of the manufacturer of your videocard and download
the latest drivers. This will solve most common problems unless
the manufacturer provides poor quality drivers.
-
If you are unsure about which type of videocard is in your
computer goto start menu -> control panel -> system ->
hardware -> device manager -> display adapters. Here are
links to two well known manufacturers:
-
- ATI ( 'Radeon' series )
- NVidia ( 'Geforce' series
)
-
- Note that the standard window's XP drivers are not enough to
run our game in OpenGL mode - which is fastest. If OpenGL does
not run properly go to settings->graphics (in the game) and
switch to 'Direct X'.
-
- Install DirectX.
You need version 8 or higher to run our games. You can check your
version by running DirectX Diagnostic Tool (start menu -> run,
type 'dxdiag'). You can find the version number at the bottom
of the first page. Installing DirectX can solve both audio and
graphics problems.
-
- If the game runs too slow, you can try a lower screen resolution
(settings->graphics).
